Delicious cinnamon rolls made with sourdough discard.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • Cream cheese frosting (recipe follows)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sourdough discard, milk, sugar, melted butter, and salt.
  2. Add flour and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  6. Spread softened butter over the dough.
  7. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Roll up the dough tightly.
  9. Slice into rolls.
  10. Place rolls in a baking dish.
  11. Let rise for 1-2 hours.
  12. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  13. Frost with cream cheese frosting.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar to your preference.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
  • Make sure your sourdough discard is active for best results.
