Soft pretzel bites served with a creamy cheese sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (1 lb) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt, for sprinkling
  • Cheese Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Cut pizza dough into 1-inch pieces.
  3. Bring water and baking soda to a boil.
  4. Drop pretzel bites into boiling water for 30 seconds.
  5. Place on a baking sheet.
  6. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with salt.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  8. Make cheese sauce: melt butter, whisk in flour, add milk.
  9. Stir in cheese, salt, and pepper.
  10. Serve pretzel bites with cheese sauce.

Notes

  • For a crispier pretzel, bake a little longer.
  • Add different cheeses to the sauce.
  • Serve immediately for best results.
